CEO Headshots in Boston MA
David Shopper Photography specializes in creating professional CEO headshots in Boston, MA.
This executive headshot is of Boston’s Roy Hirshland. He’s the CEO of Boston-based firm T3. T3 is a real estate consulting company with beautiful offices in Boston’s Seaport area.
Roy’s CEO headshot is one of many we created for T3 in his Boston office. Our goal was to create a series of professional headshot portraits of his leadership team for T3’s digital marketing and website.
What makes a headshot good? This portrait is a good example of how to take a successful corporate portrait. The photograph is sharp and skin tones are accurate. The eyes and mouth are in sharp focus. The background is bright and ephemeral – it shows structure but is in soft focus so the subject becomes the hero.
CEO headshots are important for a number of reasons. The CEO is the public face of the company. He or she should look confident without looking haughty. They should appear at easy, but not careless. The camera should be eye-height to suggest honesty and directness. The photo should be taken in natural light to project authenticity. The CEO’s eyes should be easily seen, not in shadow. It is important for the CEO to project the values of the company and look as though they can handle the burns the job includes.
Headshots can be shot in horizontal format. If you leave room to the sides of the subject, the horizontal format allows you to put copy on the photo without covering up the person. You can then crop the sides off the photo (as we have done here) to make it into a vertical format. Using a high-res camera is important here, as you’ll be cropping out some of the image.
I generally like to shoot horizontally for this reason. It gives us more options on how to use the portrait. Uncropped, it can be used in a landscape format. Cropped a bit, it can be used in portrait mode.
The CEO headshots we shot for T3 are just one of many companies we’ve helped brand.
David brands companies in Boston for the most part, but often travels to corporate headquarters in New York City and all over the US and Europe. David’s studio is based on the North Shore of Boston. Shooting exclusively with natural light as he does, it’s easy to travel anywhere.
What colors should you wear for your headshot? I find that neutral colors, pastels, and rich darker tones work nicely. A lighter shirt or blouse with an open jacket on top. Basically, you want to look professional but comfortable, as if you were going to meet a client for the first time.
